Journal of Educational Reviews and Meta-Analysis (JERMA) is peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing educational knowledge through rigorous review methodologies and quantitative evidence synthesis. The journal serves as a premier platform for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners who seek to understand the cumulative evidence base in education across all levels—from early childhood through higher education and lifelong learning.
Journal History
The Journal of Educational Reviews and Meta-Analysis (JERMA) is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal first published in 2026. It was established in response to the growing need for a dedicated publication platform that exclusively accommodates review-based scholarship and evidence synthesis in the field of education.
Unlike general education journals that publish a broad range of empirical studies, JERMA was founded to fill a critical gap by serving as the premier home for researchers conducting systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and various other synthesis methodologies. The journal's vision is to become the definitive global reference for academics, policymakers, and educational practitioners seeking integrated, objective, and rigorously evaluated evidence to inform policy and practice.
Focus and Scope
JERMA is a rigorously peer-reviewed journal that exclusively publishes review-based research in education.
The journal does not accept primary empirical studies (e.g., single-case studies, field surveys, small-scale experiments, or qualitative fieldwork) nor opinion pieces that lack a systematic and structured synthesis framework.
JERMA encompasses all areas of education across all levels—from early childhood, primary, and secondary education to higher education and lifelong learning. Specific domains include, but are not limited to:
- Curriculum, Instruction, and Pedagogy
- Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Psychometrics
- Educational Policy, Leadership, and Institutional Governance
- Educational Technology, Digital Learning, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education
- Learning Sciences and Cognitive Development
- Teacher Education and Professional Development
- Inclusive, Special, and Equity-Focused Education
- Comparative and International Education
- STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
- Language and Literacy Education
Accepted Manuscript Types:
- Systematic Literature Reviews (adhering to PRISMA or equivalent guidelines)
- Meta-Analyses (quantitative statistical syntheses)
- Scoping Reviews and Systematic Mapping Studies
- Bibliometric Analyses and Science Mapping Studies
- Umbrella Reviews (reviews of reviews)
- Integrative and Critical Reviews with systematic procedures
